Touch can play a powerful role in communication. It can offer an immediacy and intimacy unparalleled by words, sounds or images. Powercursor is a software toolkit that enables interaction designers to add a sense of feel to their Flash interfaces without difficult programming. The software engine consists of a set of force field objects that can be added to any Flash project: holes, hills, slopes, roughs, walls, whirls, and more.

We hope this opens the way for more tactile, richer interfaces. Powercursor is part of the phd thesis I am currently finishing, called ‘What you see is What you Feel’ about the impact of simulation and its use in graphical user interfaces.
